Down here at the arse end of the world to exchange a cylinder you already own for a full one of argon is E sized, (4000 litres, 141 cf ) is $175 pacific Paso's.
I dream of $ 60.
Refer Ander's comment.

Re: Prevent Aluminium monkey bars from twisting.
If you drill your bars into the box tube so that you're not relying on welds then you'll be fine.
^^^^^^^^^^^
That is excellent advice, eliminates the single point of failure of the weld.
Good luck and remember no photos, it didn't happen![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Just be glad you are in Nth America.
Over here to buy what you have just bought they would be deciding if you could live with no kidneys or how much of your liver you need to live. Think 2 to 3 times whatever you just paid.![Shocked ](./images/smilies/icon_eek.gif)

Some 1/2 inch plate on the bottom will help with c of g issues, it also acts as a shelf for "stuff" and unfortunately a swarf catcher.
Nice first project.

Any idea as to what caused the crack in the first place, that answer might be relevant to how long your repair will last.

Also round tubing is stronger with less stress raisers due to no corners.
Its a better weight to strength ratio.
Can be a bugger to weld if you're not good at constant radius welding. Like me.

Re: Welding helmets not working with inverter based TIG mach
I am having this very issue.
But it has only started recently.
The helmet is still under warranty, new batteries, 4 sensors, works on mig, stick and test.
Its been gone 2 weeks and will be interested to see what the manufacturers answer.
Hopefully next week.

Rhyno,
Are you having difficulty seeing the bead as you weld? Or is the rod not running smoothly.
Cleaning the mill scale off of the areas you want to weld and where it earths may help.
Other than that, seat time and practice.

Facky, Practice and preparation are the answers. Clean back to shiny metal where the weld and earth clamp are going. On thicker material bevel the two edges of the joint before welding and leave a gap of a couple of mm. Weldingtipsandtricks.com has lots of videos on all types of processes and prepar...

Re: Bleeding off pressure on argon lines
If you're happy with that do it.
It will bleed to zero eventually anyway.
How long it holds pressure is a good indication of leaks as well.
You aren't wasting argon bleeding it down, its basically unusable whether you bleed it off or it bleeds itself off.
Cheers
