hello all, have a oxy-propane set up for cutting. I'm no expert. but is there a way to determine if you're moving too fast or slow? sometimes, I have to go over what I just cut through. other times there appears to be excess slag. Thanks

Depending on tip size there are fixed cut rates. Cutting by hand is a bit more art than science. Looking at the slag profile left on the cut edge and looking at the profile of the cut edge will reveal if your moving too fast or slow. Post up some pictures. Then we can help more.
