Welding Tips and Tricks

howdy all-
Have had a victor torch for a long time. today while moving with it, it was yanked from my hands and landed threads first onto some gravel and dinged up the threads, possibly beyond repair.
Looking for folks who have used Smith or Harris. I got an open mind-anyone have an opinion on either?

The threaded peices on the bottem, should be sold as a replacble part in alot of welding supply stores. I have also seen people just work the hose end on with some strong wrenching, cut the hose, then attatch hose couplings to the end like a stinger, thereby by passing the problem.

this was the top of the torch, where you can attach the cutting head/rosebud/ welding tips. Got a fellow to re-die it (don't have any that big) for a reasonable price...it was going to be about as mmuch to get a new one as to buy a die that size.

what's the thread pitch? a new torch runs over $100. most dies are well under that.
