Here's a little cube I made up last weekend for some practice.
Material was 1/4" aluminium, can't remember which alloy as it was just a piece of bar laying around the shop. Joint setup was a outside corner, all welds were done horizontally.
Machine was a Miller Dynasty 400 set @ 275 Amps A/C, No pulse, balance I think was about 75%, frequency if I recall was at 120hz ish, 1/8" 2%lanth tungsten.
Please criticize and give me some pointers. Also first time putting images up so let's see if I get it right.

No photo, but your not missing much.
Just welded an exhaust manifold right where it connects to the exhaust pipe.
It was cracked clean through. I could hardly reach it never mind clean it.
I opted for SMAW with Ni55 rods and i can't believe it, but it worked! The truck is a total beater my neighbor bought yesterday for$700. Somebody has cut out the flex pipe so i expect it to crack again.
But i was stocked it even worked.

I just finished a second chicken feeder. The design keeps normal rats out. However, Samuel whiskers would have no problem getting in.
And a little forge work to round out the day.

Hooks look nice, what will you use them for?
That feeder reminds me of a yard I rent, where I built a log shell. The guy in front has chickens and a rooster that roam on my section...damn is that rooster mean...
(I hope I don't have to kill him someday, he's attacked me twice. 
)

Not a bad idea...I kicked him once I punted him about 20 yards, it was like kicking a rubber ball, he just got back up and came back at me. I told the owner I'm gonna take my Sheridan BlueStreak. About 12 pumps outta take care of him with a single pellet.

We eliminated our roster because he was attacking my kids.
The hooks where for my neighbors tractor. He did not want to weld on his new mahindra. I did not get a pic but i will try and get one. It's hard to explain the nonsense we did.

This is my first run-in with a rooster, the first time he opened his wings and started to attack me with his beak and claws, I will admit he scared the crap out of me. I can only imagine how a child would feel. He was a lot bigger once he opened his wings. Then I had another run-in, where he snuck up behind me while I had my back turned putting some stuff in the shed, when I turned around he was making some noises and looked like he was gonna attack me again, so I grabbed a 4' crow bar and wacked him, but just barely got his head by the shed door. He ran out of there quick...that's when I told the owner the next time he might be eating him for dinner.

I've done a bit of forging, mostly with coal, but built a gas forge. I haven't done any forging in several years. I was originally wanting to build some strap hinges for the log home project. We have a pretty big community with the CBA out in California.

I learned on coal. When i lived in nj my son and i would go every Saturday to the blacksmith of trenton for 4 hours. It was great. I built a nice little gas forge and that's how i did those hooks. I picked up a coal forge last year but still waiting to set up a safe space for it.
The gate i posted in the other post had some blacksmithing. The birds nest and the fish tail scrolls.
Roosters can be nasty. They have an instinct to fight to the death. If you have 2 roosters one will die. (So im told)
I could scare him but with my wife he would attack if she turned her back in him, and the little girls.....forget it, he knew he was their boss. It happened 2-3 times and by then the girls where afraid to go outside.
It took about a week to read up on butchering.
So we planned a big butchering day and a friend gave us 3 young roosters to add to the mix and at the last minute someone else wanted our rooster, so we butchered the 3 young. The new owner did end up eating our old rooster as he was a bit too aggressive.
To this day my 4yr old is upset about it.
We still have 3 chickens but we have shifted to muscovy ducks. They work with the kids and gardens much better.
